My Teaching Method and Techniques
My teaching method focuses on understanding first, then application. I begin by explaining concepts in a simple and structured way, making sure students understand the why behind formulas and rules. I then connect the theory to worked examples and exam style questions, showing students how to approach questions logically, interpret what is being asked, and structure answers according to mark allocation. I pay close attention to common mistakes and misconceptions and address them directly so students don’t repeat them in exams.
A Typical Lesson Plan
A typical lesson starts with a brief review of previous work to identify gaps or areas of confusion. I then introduce or revise the main topic using clear explanations and examples. After that, we work through practice questions together, step by step, focusing on problem solving strategies and exam technique. The lesson ends with independent or guided practice and a short summary of key points to reinforce understanding and build confidence.
What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor
What sets me apart is my focus on helping students understand exam questions, not just the content. Many students know the material but lose marks because they misunderstand what a question is asking or how to present their answer. I teach students how to read questions carefully, identify key instructions, and answer in a way that meets exam requirements. As a Bachelor of Education (Chemistry) student, I also understand how students learn and how to explain difficult concepts in a way that makes sense.
Who the Lessons Are For
My lessons are suitable for secondary school students and early university level students studying Chemistry and Mathematics. They are especially helpful for students preparing for tests and exams, students who struggle with problem solving, and those who want to improve their confidence and performance through better understanding and exam technique.

Abigail is a great tutor, very kind and patient with students. We had our lessons online. She provides clear and simple explanations that helped me understand topics better. She has really helped boost my chemistry marks this semester.
I really enjoyed learning with Abigail because she explains things clearly and makes difficult topics easier to understand. She’s patient, encouraging, and always makes lessons comfortable and engaging. I’d definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a supportive and reliable tutor.
We are incredibly grateful for the impact she had on our son during his final year of junior school. He had always been a D student, and we had nearly lost hope. From our very first conversation, her belief that every child is intelligent, just with different learning styles, stood out because i always believed my son was not academically gifted. She tutored him in Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, and Physics, and for the first time he achieved A’s in Maths and Chemistry, and B’s in Biology and Physics. She is exceptional with children, patient, encouraging, and truly transformative. She offers online lessons as well, but we were fortunate to have one-on-one sessions in person. Highly recommended.
