About Maya

I have a great deal of experience in tutoring a wide range of ages, and I prioritize connecting with my students. I recently graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry, and I am passionate about making math and the sciences accessible to students of all experiences and interests.

About the lesson

I teach biology, chemistry and math at a middle school or high school level. I have offered tutoring in these subjects for my peers, as well as younger students, since I was in high school myself, and I find it extremely rewarding to watch someone grasp material they've been struggling with.

As a tutor, I would offer personalized help to my students based on their goals: whether that's helping with homework and clarifying difficult concepts from class, or teaching more advanced topics to give them a head start among their peers. I can explain concepts from as many angles as needed, and provide practice problems for us to work through together to help the student acquire ease and comfort with the material.

It would be important to me that my students properly understand what is being taught rather than simply memorizing it, so teaching students how systems and topics connect would be a priority.

Perfect! She is able to individualize my experience by explaining hard concepts to me in a way I was able to understand. She is patient, kind and she very excited to share her knowledge and when she sees me understand the concept we are talking about. I would recommend her as a tutor if you need help with biochem!
