About Jennifer
I have five years of formal teaching experience beyond a lifetime of teaching people things just for pleasure and fun. In my approach, students generally find me to be relaxed, friendly, patient, and easygoing. Students need not fear that I will be too formal, uptight, or that I will think that I am always right.
Over the course of getting my own education, I was often frustrated and annoyed that so many instructors present material, and answer questions, as if they know everything or are ALWAYS right. Also, it always bothered me that so many teachers, if they don’t know something, would refuse to admit that they don’t know it. In such situations, I will say that I don’t know, and then use the matter to learn it alongside my students: we will learn it TOGETHER.

I try my hardest to make my teaching be constructive, productive, entertaining, and fun, instead of making math and science unnecessarily complicated for students. One of my pet peeves in all my years as a student was the way some instructors have of being too vague and difficult to understand or follow.
My teaching experience is primarily at the high school and university levels, although I frequently tutor younger students as well.
In teaching, I try to use real-life examples to help explain topics in math and science so that students can understand the relevance in what they’re learning, which may not be immediately apparent otherwise.
