About Madison
Hi! My name is Madison and I am a sophomore chemical engineering major at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. Regarding the subjects I teach, I have most recently completed both Calculus 3 and General Chemistry 2 with As. I am also currently working as an undergrad researcher in electrochemistry for the Haynes Group and have experience working with younger children as a summer camp counselor. Balancing freshman year classes and being an intern for the Philippine Student Association has not been easy, but I've survived. I've learned a variety of helpful skills and tips along the way that I'm sure could be of good use to you. Putting in effort to learn a topic is half the work, and I am sure if we work together you will be happy with your progress and success!

My teaching method consists of warming up the student to the topic by seeing what they already know and creating clear learning objectives. I then explain the concepts with real-world examples or connecting it to a previously studied topic and go through practice problems step-by-step. Once there's understanding, I allow them to answer some problems on their own.
I believe what sets me apart as a tutor is my patience and persistence. As a student in engineering, I understand how frustrating it can be when you don't figure out a concept in the first couple of tries--especially when the way the professor teaches can be confusing. I promise to work with my student's personal learning style and to continue working with my students until they feel comfortable with their level of understanding.
I am most skilled at teaching Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus 1 and 3, but I can also teach earlier levels of math. I can also help with middle school to high school level chemistry.
