About Mohammad Ali

As an MEng graduate from the University of Sheffield, I've had immense experience in elevating students' prospects for the past six years, tutoring in the sciences with a focus on Chemistry and Biology. Whether leading group workshops for GCSE Mathematics, or leading classrooms for A-Level Biology, or providing 1-to-1 support for UCAS and university outreach, I've helped students across a wide range of needs. A lot of the students I've supported have reached Russell Group universities.

By studying Chemical Engineering with Biotechnology, I am an especially strong tutor for those wanting to appreciate in full the links that both Chemistry and Biology have and their application in solving problems.

I approach these lessons as a consultant: each individual is treated from the ground up. The emphasis is on improving student outlook on the subjects they are being tutored in, and widen their horizon for what they want for themselves - both in terms of grade achieved, and future prospects.

The first hour is spent assessing (for free) where the student stands within the subjects of interest, including what their goals are and how they wish to approach the subject/s.

Each following session will have Do Nows to start things off: a short 5-minute exercise that rounds off learning objectives from previous lessons - these are prepared materials, personalised to the needs of each student.

Each topic in sciences tend to have a few underlying concepts that students should engage with to be able to achieve mastery, and our lessons are equally centered on how the content of the course is shaped on these tenets. It's both confidences in these concepts and memory that are tested in GCSE and A-Level. As we approach exam seasons, a directed plan of action will be implemented, catered to the strengths of the tutee - be it past papers, exercise books, online activities, games, or more.

The key to keeping the learning individual engaged is to make what is being taught relevant to the student, so there will be a focus on relating the interests of the student to the course.

For students wanting the ultimate package for A-Level sciences including mathematics, we offer co-tutoring, where two tutors - myself and Daniel King (available on superprof) - each offer specialised tuition on Biology/Chemistry and Physics/Mathematics respectively. This provides unprecedented attention and support for a tutee, with the expertise of two Chemical Engineering graduates devoted to the tutelage of the individual. This also presents an attractive option for group settings.

Combined tuition, with another expert tutor (search Daniel King on superprof) for 2:1 sessions for a complete package of Chemistry, Biology, Physics, and Mathematics: £30/hour in person, plus £5 travel for each tutor (£25/ hour for both tutors for online tutoring, through Skype, Discord, Google Hangouts or Zoom).

Long-term solutions involving a mixture of Daniel and I's tutoring is available, for those wanting different amounts of tuition in Chemistry/Biology and Physics/Mathematics, though note we are versed in all these fields individually.
