About Alexis
I am the daughter of an Algebra teacher so you may say that being good at math is just in my genes. I have always loved math, so much so, that I originally wanted to major in Mathematics in college. I ended up going the Engineering route, but math still remains my favorite subject. I went to school on full academic scholarship, earned a Chemical Engineering degree, and have worked in corporate for 10 years.
I have experience with training others and providing math tutoring. I love to tutor Algebra because it is a subject that you will use regardless of your profession. You need algebra in order to understand how to budget, to understand how loan and credit card interests works, you even need it to understand sales pricing in the store. The concepts in Algebra are concepts that will enable students to better perform in their adult lives, so I am passionate about making sure my students have a thorough grasp of Algebraic concepts for their current and future success.

I provide Algebra I, Algebra II, and College Algebra tutoring. I love math because it follows rules and it is consistent, so if you understand the rules, you can apply the rules (regardless of the equation/ problem), and you can find the answer. When I teach, I like to ensure my students have a firm understanding of the foundational rules that apply so that they can build from there to solve more complex problems. My goal is that my students feel confident going into their next quiz or test.
I am creative so I can often explain a concept in multiple different ways to help aid in a student's understanding. I also love to have fun, so I do my best to keep my lessons interesting!
