About Dr James
I am a Chartered Psychologist, Behavioural Scientist and University Lecturer. I am responsible for lecturing, supervising, researching, and assessing students' written work. I have taught for 7 years in Higher Education and have a range of experience with supervising students in areas of Psychology, Criminology and Research Methods at Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels. I am particularly passionate about helping students develop strong academic writing, critical thinking, and reading skills, essential tools for achieving their academic goals and reaching their full potential. My approach is supportive, engaging, and tailored to individual learning styles, with a focus on building confidence, clarity, and academic independence. I always go the extra mile to provide students extra opportunities to ask questions and to offer timely and constructive feedback on their work. My teaching pedagogy is associated with constructivist theories of learning, where I encourage students to ask questions, engage with content, and connect new knowledge to what they already know. I have supported hundreds of students in my 7 years of teaching in Higher Education and I am an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, so I'm consistently reflecting on my own teaching approaches in order to strive for high quality, and efficient learning experiences. My tutorials are 60 minutes long and are aimed at any higher education based student who is willing to develop and is ambitious to achieve their academic goals.
