About Hiroki

As a graduate in Psychology and Philosophy, I had no idea what I was doing when I first entered the world of finance. I started off as an auditor, pursuing the chartered accountancy qualification (ACA). I attended classes initially - but quickly figured out that the teachers were encouraging brute memorisation; as opposed to helping build intuition and proper understanding. After my first completing two papers in ACA, I have never attended any other formal classes - for I found that they weren't helpful.

Instead, I self taught the ACA myself - and later, picked up the CFA halfway through my ACA because I was curious. After reviewing the CFA Level 1 textbooks, I decided to do the CFA as well. Since then, I self taught both the ACA and CFA myself, and have passed both on first attempt (no resits). I attribute this to my personal way of learning - I often find ways to simplify ideas to layman terms so that I can understand it myself.

On top of all these, I have industry experience to provide context for the knowledge in these books - I have worked with private companies (PLC, LTD), charities, public sector bodies, and transaction services (corporate finance). This has provided me tremendous context to aid my understanding - allowing me to pass all of my papers on first attempt.

I've managed to do all these in the span of 3 years - post qualification, with no background in accounting and finance. It'll be great for me to help you out as well in your journey in being a chartered accountant/CFA.

About the lesson

- I strongly believe in building the intuition behind accounting and finance; as opposed to rote memorisation. I am able to explain concepts of accounting and finance in simple lay man terms - making it intuitive for you to learn.
- Typically, I will be able to cover any subjects/aspects that you are unclear of. The more specific your questions are, the more I am able to help you.
- Typical length - one hour. However, I will make sure you're satisfied with the session/explanation - hence, it might be a wee bit longer than that.
