About Bernie
I am a patient, caring, and nurturing tutor seeking to help with your everyday scholastic needs. My most-tutored subjects are within mathematics (Pre-Algebra, Algebra I and II, Trigonometry, Precalculus, Calculus I, and Statistics), but I am also experienced in tutoring science (Chemistry, Biology, Earth/Space Science, and Physical Science), English, American History, Government, Civics, Spanish, proofreading/editing and test prep (PSAT, SAT, GRE, FSA, and EOCs). With over 10 years of experience helping more than 50 students achieve success, I am ready and willing to work with you in pursuit of academic excellence.

I am personable and well-rounded, graduating summa cum laude from high school and being inducted into its hall of fame. I have received numerous awards for competing in math, science, history, and geography, as well as for writing and customer service. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, I speak English and Spanish fluently, and I am a certified tutor and medical interpreter.
My teaching methodology relies heavily on mentoring and the Socratic method. By using Socratic questioning, I am able to elicit students' insights while simultaneously developing their critical-thinking skills. Combined with an empathetic mentoring approach, students are allowed to learn in a judgment-free environment where they are encouraged to participate and take ownership of their studies.
