About Tina
I have been tutoring for 10+ years and teaching in the public school system for nearly as long. I am passionate about teaching reading and writing for all age levels (i.e. K-12, university, adult). On top of my Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and my Bachelor of Education, I also have a Special Education Certificate and my Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) Certificate. Lessons can be held at my house in Burke Mountain, or I can travel to your house in the Tri-Cities. I can also work with you online via webcam. Let me help you to love learning English!

As someone who has been in the education industry for 10+ years now, I am incredibly passionate about teaching. I love making reading and writing fun and easy for everyone! I work with English learners of all levels, but especially those who need some extra guidance (ex: English isn't your first language or you have a learning difficulty). If you find English challenging, I'm here for you! My lessons are tailored specifically to your needs.
I can teach:
- Executive functioning skills (organization, planning, self-regulation)
- (K-Gr. 2) Primary literacy (phonics, fluency, reading strategies) and numeracy (identifying numbers, counting, addition, subtraction)
- (Gr. 3-5) Intermediate literacy (reading comprehension, reading strategies, paragraph writing, grammar) and numeracy (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions)
- (Gr. 6-8) Middle School literacy - reading comprehension, reading strategies, essay writing, grammar, digital literacy
- (Gr. 9-12) High School literacy - reading comprehension, reading strategies, essay writing, grammar, digital literacy
- College & University Writing - academic writing
- Adult English Learners - conversational English, grammar, academic and business writing
I have experience with all types of learners including:
