About Sophia
I am a certified social studies teacher with three years of experience teaching middle and high school history, including the U.S. History Regents. I hold a Master of Science in Teaching from Hunter College and a B.A. in International Political Economy from Fordham University. I bring both rigor and compassion to my lessons, helping students strengthen their critical thinking, writing, and document analysis skills. My sessions are structured, supportive, and engaging—designed to make history meaningful and accessible for every learner. Fluent in Spanish and conversational in Mandarin and Dutch, I work effectively with multilingual students and adapt lessons to meet diverse learning needs. My approach as a tutor is rooted in the belief that students will meet the bar you set when they feel supported and challenged.
