About Linda
I received my bachelor's and master's degrees from the City University of New York and have an additional 15 credits in TESOL from C.W. Post, Long Island. For more than a dozen years, I've been working with secondary school and adult students from a wide variety of countries. I've met with these students in the classroom, in home settings and online. It's been an amazing privilege to come to know so much about the people with whom we share the planet. Nothing gives me more pleasure than helping these people be the best that they can be. In addition to teaching, I've also been an editor and public relations executive, and I have published several books

I'll learn your goals, your strengths and weaknesses so that I can best help you. Every lesson is individualized for you personally. Depending on your needs and goals, I'll teach you skills to help you increase reading comprehension: skimming, scanning, identifying key words and answering questions. I'll also teach you word attack skills to increase your vocabulary: prefixes, roots, stems, context clues. If you want to improve your understanding, appreciation or enjoyment of classical literature, I'll teach elements of fiction such as plot, setting and conflict as well as figurative language such as simile, metaphor and symbols. Each unit will include a brief explanation and will be followed by hands-on assignments that we will review as you complete them.
