About Alexandra

My students describe me as a “supportive, patient, flexible, friendly, easy to work with and well-prepared tutor who creates engaging, personalized English lessons that build confidence and real progress.” But if I had to choose a word to describe myself, it would be "Fernweh" — a word of German origin meaning “far-sickness.” This brought me first to China, where I spent 5 years teaching ESL and Social Studies, helping learners improve their speaking, fluency, and everyday English communication. I then moved to Spain, where I used my expertise to prep students for the Cambridge PET and KET Speaking Exams and supported adult learners with online English conversation practice. At my core, I’m a traveler and history lover at heart, someone who loves to learn new things and explore new places. About the lesson

If there’s one thing teaching English as a Second Language has taught me throughout my 8 years of teaching, it’s the importance of providing students with an outlet for practicing spoken English. This is something I’ve found to be true both in my experience as an ESL teacher and as a foreign language student who struggled with frequent translation buffers and brain freezes. I’m sure this sounds familiar.

So how do we overcome this obstacle?

In lessons, we will focus on your learning goals as well as your pain points at a you-paced rate. Lessons will include conversation practice, fluency training, vocabulary expansion, listening comprehension, and fine-tuning pronunciation and grammar, especially for real-life speaking situations.

But most importantly, we’ll have fun and engaging conversations that are tailored to your level, interests, and everyday communication needs. See you soon!
