About Leona
As a teacher/tutor my memorable moments come when a student grasps a concept or remembers something I said or did to make an impression during their time with me. I like to laugh and smile a lot. That is reflected in my fun approach to learning, and my belief in the power of the written word. It is rewarding for me to return to the roots of my career.

I have been a certified Language Arts teacher in New Jersey, California, and Florida. I tutored/taught middle and high school students and prefer high school. I also enjoy tutoring elementary school age children. My teaching approach can be called conversational because through discussion, deeper levels of meaning can be experienced. My lesson plan would contain word familarization, reading and discussion, followed by a writing prompt.
I am an expressive and caring teacher who is always there with support and communication. My students sense my empathy.
I can teach reading, composition, elements of literature, drama and science fiction (I have written curriculum for several of those areas) and SAT English test preparation.
