About Nerissa

Hello! I’m Nerissa, a certified ESL teacher with more than 7 years of experience teaching English online since 2018.

I have taught students from different countries, ages, and English levels, from young beginners to teenagers and adults. I am experienced in helping students develop their speaking, listening, vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and overall communication skills.

I am a TESOL, TEFL, and TEYL certified teacher, and I believe that learning English should be encouraging, enjoyable, and meaningful. I create a friendly and supportive classroom where students feel comfortable speaking, asking questions, and learning from their mistakes.

Whether you are a parent looking for a patient teacher for your child or an adult who wants to become more confident in English, I will do my best to make every lesson personalized, engaging, and useful for your goals.

Hi! I’m Nerissa, a certified ESL teacher who has been teaching English since 2018. I have more than 7 years of experience teaching students from different countries, ages, and English levels—from young beginners to teenagers and adults.

My Teaching Method

I believe students learn English best when they feel comfortable, encouraged, and actively involved in the lesson. My teaching style is fun, interactive, patient, and student-centered. I adjust my lessons according to each learner’s age, level, goals, personality, and learning needs.

Depending on the student, I use conversation practice, games, songs, role-play, visual aids, gestures, TPR (Total Physical Response), vocabulary activities, pronunciation practice, and guided speaking exercises. I also use simple questions and comprehension checks to make sure students understand the lesson before moving forward.

What a Typical Lesson Looks Like

Each lesson is personalized, but we may usually begin with a friendly warm-up or review of the previous lesson. We then introduce the target vocabulary, grammar, or speaking topic using examples and interactive activities.

Students will have plenty of opportunities to speak, answer questions, practice new words, and use English in real-life situations. I provide gentle corrections and clear explanations so students can improve without feeling embarrassed or afraid of making mistakes.

At the end of the lesson, we review what the student has learned and identify areas to continue practicing.

What Sets Me Apart

As an experienced online English teacher, I understand that every student learns differently. I don’t believe in using exactly the same lesson for everyone. I take time to understand my students and adapt my teaching to help them feel confident and motivated.

For younger learners, I make lessons lively through games, songs, movement, pictures, props, and playful activities. For teenagers and adults, I can focus more on conversation, pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, business English, interview preparation, and practical communication.

My goal is not simply to help students memorize English. I want them to understand it, use it confidently, and enjoy learning it.
