About Heather
Hi! I’m an ESL tutor with a BA in English and over 10 years of in-classroom experience. I've worked with all ages, from preschool up to adult, and am TEFL certified. I know that learning a new language can feel overwhelming, so I do my best to make English feel approachable and interesting. I believe learning English should feel fun and encouraging, not stressful, so I keep my lessons playful, supportive, and tailored to each student’s pace. My focus is on helping to build confidence just as much as learning the language itself! Whether we’re learning through stories, games, or simple conversations, my goal is to help you grow your skills and enjoy the process. I'm looking forward to meeting you!

My teaching approach is flexible, kind, and always centered around the student. I like to keep things engaging and low-pressure. When teaching kids, I use stories, games, and conversation to make English feel natural and fun. For adults, I focus more on practical language use, like everyday vocabulary, clear sentence structure, and improving confidence in speaking. Of course, we can always use a blend of the two!
A typical lesson starts with a relaxed review, followed by new material presented in a way that fits the learner’s style, whether visual, verbal, or hands-on. We practice through gentle repetition and real-life examples, with time at the end for questions or casual conversation. I’ve taught all ages and levels, but I specialize in working with elementary-aged children, early learners, and anyone who feels nervous about learning English. I aim to make each student feel heard, supported, and proud of what they’re learning.
