About Carissa
I am a certified English, Reading, and ESOL teacher with 10 years of experience in the classroom. I hold a Master's Degree and Doctorate Degree in Education, and I have worked with all grades K-12 and all levels from remedial to advanced honors. I was considered a Master Teacher in my school and am currently an Instructional Coach for the state. I work with new teachers to help them develop and implement engaging and meaningful lessons and assessments.

I believe that hands on learning is often the best way. We learn most when we do the work ourselves. I do not rely heavily on lecture and note taking, however it is appropriate at specific times. My students are often up and moving around the classroom. I employ the use of formative assessments to assess learning during the process and summative assessments when students are ready to demonstrate their mastery.
