About Kah Yan
Hi, I'm Yan, a CELTA-qualified English teacher with 12 years of teaching experience. I have taught students from different linguistic and cultural backgrounds, including Korean and Chinese students learning English as a Second Language (ESL).
My teaching experience ranges from helping young learners develop their English foundations, including reading and basic grammar, to supporting older students with writing, grammar, reading comprehension and communication skills.
I have also been conducting online English classes for the past 2 years, and I enjoy creating engaging and personalized lessons that work well in an online learning environment.
I enjoy teaching because I love seeing students grow in confidence and realize that learning English can be enjoyable rather than intimidating. I believe every student learns differently, so I take the time to understand their strengths, challenges and learning needs.
My goal is not simply to help students achieve better grades, but to help them develop strong English skills that they can use confidently in school and everyday life. I believe the purpose of learning English should extend beyond the classroom, allowing students to incorporate and use the language naturally and confidently in their everyday lives.
I find it especially rewarding to see a student who was once hesitant become more willing to read, write, speak and express their ideas in English.

My lessons are personalised to each student's English level, learning needs and goals. With 12 years of teaching experience and a CELTA qualification, I have extensive experience teaching English as a Second Language (ESL), including students from Korean and Chinese backgrounds. I help primary and lower-secondary students strengthen their writing, grammar, reading comprehension, vocabulary and communication skills through clear explanations, individual feedback and supportive guidance.
