About Kendra

Kendra G is a cellist born and raised in the southern region of New Mexico. They are an avid performer and teacher with 6 years of teaching experience in a variety of settings. They received their bachelor’s in individualized studies with a focus in music in 2019 from New Mexico State University and their Masters in Cello Performance from Missouri State University in 2021.

Kendra’s private students have received a multitude of awards in addition to being accepted into all state orchestras and receiving honors in Solo and Ensemble competitions. Kendra has also taught in group settings, coaching cello, and double bass sections for orchestra camps. Other teaching experience including summer orchestra music camps and beginner’s orchestra classes. Kendra Also has experiencing teaching piano at the Academy of music and Dance in Las Cruces, NM.

Kendra has also participated in several large-scale performances at the Bay View Music Festival for the productions of Le Nozze di Figaro by Mozart and Carmen by Bizet. Also, while attending these festivals Kendra has participated in the String Quartet Program. Other large Ensembles Kendra has participated in are the University Orchestras from their undergrad and graduate degree programs as well as the New Horizons Symphony orchestra in New Mexico. In their undergrad, Kendra was a part of the Crimson String quartet, performing for multiple campus activities as well as performance in class recitals. Then, in their master’s degree they performed in a piano trio. They have also performed for many master classes given by cellists such as Lawrence Stomberg, Mark Kosower, among others. They are currently in the Studio of Dr. Daniel Ketter at Missouri State University. When not playing cello Kendra enjoys spending their free time hanging out with their dog Max and cooking food.

About the lesson

Hello! I teach cello for ages 5+ and all levels of learning. My approach to the cello is based off of the Suzuki method but also incorporates more note reading. I have a huge passion for helping and letting student pick to music that they are learning, so this could even include pop music or modern music!
