About Susan
I am a cellist in Tampa, Florida, and I hold a degree in Cello Performance from the University of South Florida. I have played the cello for over ten years! I am most familiar with standard cello repertoire in addition to my experience performing in Jazz, Pop, and traditional Scottish ensembles. Additionally, I am a multi-instrumentalist, and I have studied the Piano and Bagpipes in addition to the cello. As a result, I have a strong understanding of music theory, and diverse performing experience.

Learning to play the cello demands lots of patience and practice! As a teacher, I concentrate on creating good techniques from the beginning, regardless of whether you are a first-time cellist or an advancing student. In our lessons, we will focus on cello technique, music theory, and ear training. For beginner students, I often compose individualized etudes (songs to practice certain techniques). Lastly, I believe that it is important for students to play music that they love! If you have a song or piece that you would like to learn, bring it to class!
