I am a professor at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) in the Computer Science Department specializing in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence.
My focus is not standard academic tutoring. I work exclusively with highly driven students—both high schoolers aiming for top-tier undergraduate programs and undergraduates targeting elite top-10 MS/PhD programs—to develop admissions-grade research portfolios.
In today’s hyper-competitive admissions landscape, perfect grades are only a baseline. Admissions committees at top computer science programs are looking for a definitive academic "spike"—demonstrated, high-level research capabilities under the guidance of established academics.
About the Methodology / The Program: I do not offer traditional hourly tutoring or homework help. I run a rigorous academic incubator. Working 1-on-1, I guide my students through the formulation, execution, and finalization of an original Machine Learning research project.
For High School Students: We bypass standard curriculum to focus on foundation models and state of the art machine learning. The deliverable is an original, complex ML project or application that can be featured on a GitHub portfolio or potentially a research paper.
For Undergraduate / Graduate-Bound Students:
We focus on advanced theoretical frameworks, publication strategy, and graduate-level execution. The deliverable is a high-level research project, guidance on structuring papers for top-tier venues, and strategic formulation of your Statement of Purpose (SOP) to resonate with graduate review committees.
The Recommendation Letter:
Please note that a Letter of Recommendation is never guaranteed and cannot be purchased. However, for students who commit to a comprehensive project, demonstrate exceptional academic rigor, and produce high-caliber results, I am happy to write a formal Letter of Recommendation detailing their research capabilities.
Investment & Engagement Formats:
To ensure dedicated focus and maintain my own research and teaching commitments, I take on a strictly limited number of private students per cycle.
Project-Based Mentorship:
For students looking to build a complete project from scratch, I offer a structured, 12-week comprehensive research package. This includes weekly 1-on-1 mentorship, asynchronous code/paper reviews, and end-to-end guidance on a final deliverable. Pricing is provided after an initial consultation to ensure the student is a mutual fit.
Prerequisites:
A strong mathematical background, an exceptional work ethic, and basic programming familiarity are helpful, though not required.
HOW PRICING & ENGAGEMENT WORKS
Please note: Due to platform limitations, the hourly rate displayed ($300) reflects the cost of a 1-hour Initial Consultation & Academic Audit, not my standard hourly mentorship rate.
Because I am a sitting university faculty member, I do not offer ad-hoc hourly tutoring. I work with students exclusively through structured, project-based mentorships.
Step 1: The Academic Audit ($300 - 1 Hour)
This is a prerequisite for all new students. During this intensive 60-minute Zoom session, I will review your current technical portfolio, transcripts, and research goals. I will provide direct feedback on how an elite CS admissions committee will view your profile, and we will map out a potential capstone project.
Step 2: The Capstone Research Incubator ($12,000 - 12 Weeks)
If we are a mutual fit after the audit, I will invite the student to join my 12-week intensive incubator. This includes weekly 1-on-1 mentorship, asynchronous code review, and end-to-end guidance to produce an original, admissions-grade Machine Learning research project.
