About Nidhi

Hello! I'm Nidhi, a passionate Carnatic flute tutor who enjoys helping students discover the beauty and discipline of Carnatic music. I believe that music is more than learning notes—it's about developing patience, consistency, confidence, and a lifelong appreciation for the art.

My goal is to create a comfortable and encouraging learning environment where students feel free to ask questions and progress at their own pace. I emphasize strong fundamentals, proper technique, rhythm, and musical expression so that every student develops a solid foundation before moving on to advanced concepts.

As a teacher, I understand that every student learns differently. That's why I adapt my lessons to suit each individual's age, experience, and goals. Whether you're learning as a hobby, preparing for performances or examinations, or fulfilling a long-time dream of playing the Carnatic flute, I will guide you with patience, structured lessons, and continuous feedback.

I also assist beginners in choosing the right flute. If you're new to the instrument and unsure which flute to buy, I'll be happy to recommend a suitable option based on your needs. If required, I can also arrange a beginner-friendly flute, with the instrument cost being separate from the tuition fee.

I look forward to helping you begin your Carnatic flute journey and making every lesson both enjoyable and meaningful.

About the lesson

My Carnatic flute classes are designed for students of all ages, including school students, college students, working professionals, and adults who are passionate about learning Indian classical music. Whether you are a complete beginner or have some prior experience, I tailor each lesson to your current level and learning pace.

Every class begins with warm-up exercises to develop proper breath control, finger positioning, posture, and tone production. We then move on to Carnatic music fundamentals such as swaras, Sarali Varisai, Jantai Varisai, Alankarams, rhythm, and simple compositions. As students progress, lessons include varnams, kritis, and techniques to improve musical expression and confidence. Each session concludes with guided practice, personalized feedback, and exercises to prepare for the next class.

My teaching style is patient, interactive, and structured. I focus on helping students understand the purpose behind every exercise rather than simply memorizing notes. I provide individual attention, encourage questions, and ensure that every student builds a strong foundation before advancing to more complex lessons.

Students are required to have their own Carnatic flute for regular practice. If you are unsure about which flute to purchase, I can guide you on selecting the appropriate flute based on your age, comfort, and learning goals before you make a purchase. If preferred, I can also help arrange a suitable beginner's flute. In that case, the student will be responsible for the cost of the flute in addition to the tuition fee.

My goal is to make learning Carnatic flute enjoyable, structured, and rewarding while helping every student develop confidence, discipline, and a lasting appreciation for Carnatic music.
