About Kennedy

Before teaching, I spent years working in the music industry on the business side, which gave me practical insight into what actually helps a musician build a genuine sustainable career. That business background shapes my teaching heavily since I care just as much about a student's career readiness as I do about their pure technical skill. I bring real industry knowledge into lessons that purely academically trained violin teachers often simply do not have access to themselves. Students who study with me tend to have real professional ambitions and appreciate having a coach who understands the practical realities of the modern music business. I stay closely connected to current industry trends and application requirements because this practical knowledge changes constantly, and I want my guidance to remain genuinely current and useful. Eleven years into this specialized practical approach, nothing satisfies me more than watching a former student actually secure a real professional opportunity using skills we built together.

About the lesson

My teaching goes beyond pure technical instruction into the genuinely practical business side of building a real career with the violin in today's competitive landscape. Alongside standard technical training I help students plan and record simple performance videos that actually represent their playing accurately to programs orchestras and potential employers. We discuss online presence and content strategy openly since I believe modern musicians need a genuine visible portfolio alongside strong technical skill to find real opportunities. I bring in practical knowledge about audition preparation program applications and basic professional etiquette that most purely technical violin teachers never actually cover with their students. Mock audition scenarios happen regularly so students feel genuinely prepared for the non technical realities of pursuing music seriously beyond the practice room. I encourage students to think about their overall musical identity which shapes how we approach repertoire choices and long term artistic direction. This practically minded career focused approach suits students with real professional ambitions who want more than just technical training from their violin lessons.
