As a teacher, my mantra was always to teach students how to apply the learned knowledge. For software engineers compiler (IDE) is where they will execute the code. So I always train with hands-on experience instead of PowerPoint presentations. I have good blend of industry and academia experience which makes me feel confident while teaching computer programming.
