About Garfield
Hello there; I’ve been working as a writer/editor/trainer/podcaster for the past 25 years. I am CertTESOL-qualified from Trinity College London and hold a bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Bombay.
I'm also a published poet with British Council. I’ve conducted poetry workshops for over 30 aspiring poets at literary festivals and run I Could Think of Verse, a podcast about poems in all shapes and sizes.
I’ve taught over 60 people tips and strategies to ace their IELTS, the SAT, and the GMAT examinations. I've conducted training sessions on business communication, analytical thinking, and technical writing for more than 200 employees in various companies. I’ve also trained over 30 writers on educational and technical-writing projects for the Tata group, IBM, and Microsoft; and I’ve designed blended e-learning courses for business schools such as MIT Sloan School of Management and Columbia Business School.

Acquiring a second language, even perfecting it, can be very intimidating at times—all thanks to the quirks language possesses. For example, in English, is it alternately or alternatively? Do we use the present tense to talk about the future? And why is it talk and not say—even though both mean one and the same thing—more or less?
So the effort involved in comprehending what to use when and why differs from person to person. That is why my sessions are learner-centric and communicative, which means you’ll be doing a whole lot of talking and writing and asking me questions as well.
I specialise in written and spoken English. They’ve always fascinated me. How we repeat ourselves during a conversation and shouldn’t, in our writing, how a phrase changes meaning because of the way you voice it, and how we can keep language gender-neutral. These and many other aspects are what we will focus on to help you write and talk coherently and cohesively on just about anything.
