About Tilly

When I entered university and experienced the unique style of teaching administered by Oxbridge supervisors, I realised the extent to which I benefit from this style of learning. Through tutoring, I can pass down the strategies I gained through accessing these world-class methods and adapt them to suit the needs of the student. My track record is strong: I have won and broke to the finals of multiple university and schools debating competitions, both in and outside my time as a reserve member of the National English debate team, written multiple essays that have garnered funding and scholarships from my university, tutored younger students extensively throughout sixth form, and I am currently in the R&D stage for the establishment of an Oxbridge tutoring company that connects clientele with current Oxbridge students, who I personally train to administer supervision-style lessons to successful applicants for tuition. Furthermore, I work as a Business Development consultant for the UK's second largest social care sector company Dimensions UK, and as such have experience both on a personal and corporate basis with neurodivergence -- especially autism and ADHD.

About the lesson

Depending on the student's preferred focus, lessons will look very different. In particular, please drop me a message if you are interested in Oxbridge tutoring for humanities where I can provide more details about what that may entail and where the student is best suited. I also offer English Literature and Religious Studies A-Level tutoring, and debate coaching.

On a more general basis, I find the most effective method for tutoring is a replication of the tutoring style I experience at Cambridge, which involves providing 'tools to think with', through Socratic-style teaching and lectures. Moreover, I teach a distinct style of note making unique to debaters, which focuses on taking down as much information as possible in a short space of time in a memorable and structured format -- an especially useful technique when it comes to revision. I also ask students, if their schedules permit, for regular essay plans with a focus on structure and coherence.
