About Yigit
I studied at Robert College in Istanbul, which admits the top 0.01% of Turkey's national entrance exam. There I scored 5/5 in eight AP exams, including every maths and science subject I sat, and 1550 on the SAT. I then completed an honours degree in Integrated Science, Physics and Computer Science at Northwestern University in the US, where I also worked as a teaching assistant for physics courses. I recently finished Part III Physics at the University of Cambridge and will begin a PhD in quantum physics this autumn.
Teaching and problem solving are genuinely things I enjoy, and tutoring for me is closer to mentoring than to a job. Beyond the subject itself, I help students with the things that actually determine results: study skills, exam strategy, and managing procrastination and stress. I struggled with academic anxiety myself for a time, so I take this side of learning seriously rather than treating it as an afterthought.
My students can also reach me by text between lessons with questions. My aim is that they leave not just with better grades, but with skills that carry through the rest of their education and into whatever they do after.

I teach physics, maths, and computer science to students from GCSE and A Level or university.
My approach comes from my own experience as a learner. I was never satisfied with memorising formulae and moving on with unanswered questions, and I often found school frustrating because topics were covered too quickly to be understood properly. For me, learning means understanding a subject deeply. That struggle made me a better teacher: I start from scratch, take nothing for granted, and justify every step before building on it.
At the same time, exams reward problem solving, so my lessons put strong emphasis on it. My goal is to pass on the problem solving skills that got me through Cambridge, so that students not only understand the material but can perform under exam conditions.
Lessons typically last one hour but it may be longer depending on if we covered enough and can be held online or in person.

Yigit and I were Master's students at the University of Cambridge, where we studied a wide range of courses together, from Quantum Information to Biological Physics.
My experience with Yigit has been entirely positive. On numerous occasions, he has demonstrated an impressive ability to communicate complex scientific and mathematical concepts clearly and effectively. For example, he helped me develop a much deeper understanding of challenging topics in quantum physics, particularly quantum entanglement. I also attended a research conference where he presented his work on characterising the magnetic properties of compounds. His presentation was exceptionally clear, making sophisticated research accessible to a broad audience.
I would highly recommend Yigit as a tutor. He has a rare ability to explain difficult concepts in a way that is both concise and comprehensive, making them much easier to understand.
I’ve had the opportunity to see how Yigit explains physics, and what impressed me most wasn’t just his knowledge but the way he thinks about teaching. I once asked him how he became so good at explaining complex topics, and he told me that whenever he learns something new, he tries to imagine how he would explain it to someone with no background in the subject. He believes that’s the best way to truly understand something while also improving as a teacher. It really shows in the way he teaches—his explanations are clear, patient, and easy to follow. I’d highly recommend him to anyone looking for a physics tutor.
