About Aleena

I am a second year Cambridge Physical Natural Sciences Student (specialising in physics and mathematics this year) from Belfast. My first year modules were Physics, Maths, Materials Science and Chemistry. I achieved A*A*A*A in A-Level Physics, Maths, Further Maths and Chemistry respectively and achieved 10 A* at GCSE.

My passion for STEM led me to invent a portable test kit for malaria which only required a drop of blood and a smartphone camera. I was named Sentinus Northern Ireland Young Engineer of the Year for this project. I also achieved Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards in many Physics, Chemistry and Maths Olympiads/ Challenges and have developed robust problem-solving skills from these experiences.

I've tutored fellow students over the course of my GCSE and A level studies. My number one priority is to instil a love for tackling challenging problems in my students and I will do everything possible to give you the best possible chance to obtain the grades/ university offers you desire.

About the lesson

I usually discuss the topic causing issues, trying to identify any fundamental gaps in understanding and then explaining these. I test this understanding with standard A-level/ GCSE questions, getting the student to talk through their reasoning.

For pupils applying to Oxford, Cambridge or other top universities, I will give much more difficult interview/entrance exam style questions to stretch your thinking and will offer hints if needed. I can also discuss general strategies for interviews/ admissions tests, offer feedback on personal statements and suggestions for super-curricular subject-related activities, and provide full mock interviews.
