About Julia
My name is Julia, and I have extensive tutoring experience, and have also worked in Neuroscience research and in the NHS before training to become a doctor. I’ve also spent several years working for medicine admissions companies, helping students succeed in applications to Oxford, Cambridge, and other top universities. I’m passionate about teaching and mentoring because I love helping others find their voice, build confidence, and reach their full potential. Outside of work, I’m an avid endurance sports enthusiast, which has taught me the value of persistence, focus, and balance — qualities I aim to pass on to my students.

I have four years’ experience tutoring in medicine admissions, specialising in Oxford and Cambridge applications. I help students understand exactly what top universities look for and how to present themselves with confidence and clarity. My lessons are student-centred and practical, focusing on real interview questions, admissions-test strategy, and personal-statement development. I emphasise active learning, detailed feedback, and confidence-building through realistic practice. ***INTERVIEW PREPARATION*** Targeted mock interviews tailored to your specific university and course. 1:1 or 2:1 interview sessions simulating real medical or Oxbridge panels. Immediate, detailed feedback within each session, focusing on structure, clarity, and depth of reasoning. Opportunity to revisit and refine answers to build confidence and fluency. With my background in medicine admissions at Oxford and Cambridge, I help students understand what assessors are truly looking for — from scientific reasoning and problem-solving to personal reflection and communication skills. My sessions go beyond simple question practice: we break down your thinking process, explore your motivation for medicine, and develop techniques to stay calm and think aloud under pressure. The aim is to make you interview-ready, confident, and authentic, so you can present the very best version of yourself. ***STRATEGIC APPLICATION*** Applying strategically can make all the difference. Drawing on several years of experience working in UK medicine admissions, I can help you identify the medical schools most aligned with your strengths, scores, and experiences. 1-hour strategy session reviewing your full profile — UCAT/BMAT, academics, work experience, and personal statement. Tailored recommendations on where to apply based on admissions criteria, selection ratios, and your individual “fit.” Guidance for applicants with non-traditional backgrounds, lower UCAT scores, or complex circumstances. The goal is to maximise your chances of success by ensuring every part of your application works strategically in your favour. ***PERSONAL STATEMENT*** Your personal statement is your opportunity to show not just what you’ve done, but why it matters. Together, we’ll craft a statement that reflects your motivation, experience, and suitability for medicine. Initial session (1 hour) to discuss your drive for medicine, work experience, and extracurriculars. We’ll draw on reflective accounts to uncover genuine insights and unique stories that stand out. Follow-up sessions (30–60 minutes) focused on refining language, structure, and impact. Each draft receives detailed feedback on content, clarity, and tone to ensure your statement is both compelling and authentic. ///// Ideal for sixth-form students (ages 16–19) applying for medicine or related subjects at Oxford, Cambridge, or other top universities. Can teach individual students or groups.
