About Eleanor

I am a Cambridge University graduate, with a degree in English Literature. I am extremely passionate about learning and encouraging the development of knowledge and have always been drawn to the rich experience of teaching.

I have a multitude of creative interests and a diverse skillset, with experience in both arts and sciences. I am a singer-songwriter and spent 3 years in Los Angeles studying and working in the music industry. I am fluent in Italian, having worked within the Sardinian run Olivo group in Belgravia since 2015. I am also a self-taught web and app designer and developer.

I attended a large state school in North Wales, where I found that I often had to forge my own independent academic goals in order to excel. there was little opportunity for teachers to provide students with much individual attention. I was accepted by Cambridge University despite little prior knowledge of the application process, and without any assistance in preparation. I believe this experience has given me a unique and useful perspective in helping others fulfil their potential.

About the lesson

I am patient, compassionate and thoughtful and I believe that cultivating an engaging relationship with my students is key in providing the best tutoring service I can. I am comfortable with both curriculum based teaching as well as a more fluid approach, but I am sensitive to the fact that every individual has their own nuanced learning style and therefore always try to tailor my services to suit the tutee as much as possible.

For three years I worked for a private family as the sole homeschool teacher for their two children. This was a full-time job, during which I was responsible for covering the entire academic curriculum across multiple Key Stages, providing creative and engaging one-to-one lessons that adapted to the different strengths and interests of each student. Through this, I gained invaluable and comprehensive experience in tutoring Maths, English, Science, History, Geography, languages (Italian) and Art, as well as supporting and encouraging exploration and creativity beyond the curriculum.

My additional tutoring experience ranges from individually assisting children with learning difficulties to teaching English as a second language to large classes of students at the Italian Cultural Institute. I have also coached for Oxbridge applications and spent a year as live-in nanny for two young children, supervising and guiding homework tasks, as well as providing extra cultural and educational enrichment. I have always been highly valued by my tutees and employers and received positive feedback regarding my services.
