About Beverly

I love teaching! I have been a teacher for 53 years. I am still attending workshops, online classes and professional meetings. I am an active member of the American Association of Physics Teachers and both the state and national science associations. I also hold teaching certificates for 3 states. This summer (2024) I am completing programs from Perimeter Institute in Waterloo, Ontario Canada as well as another course through AAPT on computational physics. We never outgrow our need for learning. Sometimes I really find the classes fun because I meet new teachers and hear their contributions to discussions. There are many changes in the educational programs from the time I began teaching. Therefore, I must continue to learn so that I can improve my pedagogical style for today's students.

About the lesson

I have participated in many workshops and courses in physics, especially quantum physics and its role in today's studies. I have also participated in many TI workshops for math. I have degrees in chemistry and math. I have also earned enough college credit to have a graduate degree in physics.

A lesson on line:
1. Introduce the topic with a brief talk or video or slide presentation
2. Brief discussion stimulated with 2 questions about the introduction.
3. Introduce an application of the topic through pictures, printed problem, short video or PhET lab demo.
4. Continue with additional examples
5. Summary of the lesson.
6. Five MC questions form the lesson.
7. Assign some work for the next lesson.
