About Alanna
Hi! My name is Alanna, and I’m currently a student at the Schulich School of Business. As a member of this highly competitive program, I understand the dedication and effort it takes to succeed in academics—and the satisfaction that comes with it. I’m excited to offer tutoring in Math and English for students in Grades 3 to 9. These are subjects I’ve excelled in, and I’m passionate about helping others build confidence and achieve their goals. I bring a positive, patient, and friendly approach to every session, and all tutoring will be done online via Google Meet for your convenience. Let’s make learning enjoyable and rewarding—together!

My teaching approach is highly student-centered and adaptive while still being fully online via Google Meet. I believe that every learner has a unique way of processing information, so I tailor my methods to fit each student’s needs. I use a mix of: Active learning: engaging students through problem-solving, discussion, and practice. Socratic questioning: encouraging critical thinking by asking guiding questions rather than simply providing answers. Scaffolded instruction: breaking complex concepts into manageable steps and gradually removing support as the student gains mastery. Overall, students will be introduced with personalized online lessons while following the Ontario curriculum. A typical lesson plan includes homework catch-up, introduced material, tutorials and Q&A reviews.
