About Ava
I am a final year student at UBC in the computer science and business program and love teaching math, economics, Excel, and sciences at the K-12 level. My approach is more like a peer or mentor as opposed to a teacher, meaning that I want students to immediately let me know when they don't understand, not feel the need to remain quiet until I finish speaking. I try to add something of interest to my lessons, such as creating examples that involve topics that are interesting to you or relating the current content to the world at large.

I generally teach through examples, going from big picture down to the details so I can ensure understanding. I also like to ask my student(s) questions throughout lessons to gauge the progress we've made. In the past, a student has typically brought me their current course materials and we've talked through the priorities for them, whether it is by topic or by course, and then made a plan based on that.
I am open to teaching at any grade level, and up to 2nd-year university depending on the subject.
