About Divine
My journey into tutoring didn't actually start as a job, it started in the university library, where I spent hours helping my friends and classmates navigate assignments. I realized early on that I have a natural ability to take complex, abstract math and translate it into something that actually makes sense.
I have spent several years tutoring both high school students and first-year university students. I know exactly how it feels to look at a page of equations and feel completely stuck. Because of my math background, I have the academic rigor to handle the most advanced topics, but because I’ve spent so much time helping peers, I have the patience and communication skills to explain things in a way that is clear and stress-free.
I truly believe I’m the tutor you need to help you ace that next test or exam. However, my goal goes beyond just getting you a passing grade. I want to help you build a foundation so solid that you truly understand the "why" behind the numbers. In fact, I consider my job done when you understand a concept so well that you feel confident enough to explain it to someone else.
Whether you are struggling with the basics or trying to master calculus, I am here to help you get there. I’m professional, reliable, and committed to your success.

I'm a Laurentian University BSc Mathematics graduate with experience tutoring my friends' middle and high school kids and first-year university students. I don’t believe in just memorizing formulas. My approach is rooted in understanding the why and not just the how.
My Philosophy:
I use the "First Principles" method, breaking down complex problems into their simplest logical steps. I combine visual learning through digital whiteboards and diagrams. I will then guide you toward the answers, and confidence-building exercises that start with small wins and gradually build to more challenging material. Every student learns differently, so I adapt my approach to match your learning style, whether that's visual, kinesthetic, or through analogies.
What a Typical Lesson Looks Like
We start with a 5-minute check-in to review what you're struggling with and celebrate what's clicked since our last session. Then I spend 15 minutes introducing or simplifying the core concept using real-world examples and clear explanations. For the next 20 minutes, we work through problems together, I demonstrate my thought process out loud so you can see how an expert approaches problems. We then move into 15 minutes of independent practice where you tackle problems on your own while I observe and catch misconceptions in real-time. Finally, we wrap up with a 5-minute summary of what you learned, a few homework problems, and a preview of what's coming next.
What Sets Me Apart
Having a degree from the Laurentian University, I benefited from significantly smaller class sizes, direct accessibility to professors, which means I have deep, rigorous understanding of mathematics beyond just the curriculum. I've also worked with both high school and first-year university students, so I understand exactly where Grade 12 ends and university begins. This unique vantage point helps me bridge that gap and prepare you for the jump. Most importantly, I genuinely love mathematics, and that enthusiasm is contagious. I also remember what it's like to struggle with a concept, so I bring patience, encouragement, and a positive attitude to every session. Rather than a one-size-fits-all approach, I customize every tutoring relationship to your specific needs and goals.
Who I Work With
I offer specialized tutoring for all levels. For elementary and middle school students (Grades 1-8), I build solid foundations in arithmetic, fractions, decimals, and basic algebra. For high school students (Grades 9-12), I provide comprehensive support for the Ontario curriculum including linear equations, polynomials, functions, advanced functions, calculus, and data management. I'm also equipped to help first-year university students navigate calculus, linear algebra, and discrete mathematics as they transition to post-secondary rigor. I also offer targeted exam prep for midterms, finals, and standardized tests, and I work with students dealing with math anxiety, high achievers aiming for top grades, and homeschooled students needing comprehensive support.
You're not just getting a tutor, you're getting a partner who truly anybody can understand and enjoy mathematics. With my math degree, years of experience, and a student-first approach, I'm committed to helping you unlock your math potential.

I have known Divine for over 5 years, and we attended the same university. His teaching method is positive, very detailed, and covers every aspect needed to help understand the problem and how the solution came about. An experience we shared was when he helped me pass my calculus class in university. I was struggling to grasp some context in the course, and because he covered the basics, it helped me a lot. His method was to do a step-by-step breakdown of the problem, guiding me through each step and making sure I understood a step before going to the next one. I would gladly recommend him to anyone who struggles with mathematics.
I have known Divine as a classmate of mine from university and he has helped me a lot with my math courses. I highly recommend Divine as someone who inspires trust and confidence in students through kindness, patience, and genuine care. With a calm and approachable demeanor, Divine builds strong relationships by listening attentively, communicating clearly, and treating every student with fairness and compassion. Students know they can rely on Divine for guidance, encouragement, and honest support, which helps them feel safe to ask questions, take on challenges, and grow in confidence.
I strongly recommend Divine as a math tutor, who helped me with math in university. He is patient and encourages learners to continue to persevere without judgment. He will take time to understand each learner’s needs and adapt his teaching style accordingly. He will be fully committed to their success. I recommend him without reservation to anyone looking to build their math skills and confidence.
