About Sinead

*Not currently tutoring*
Sinead, Tipperary native.
Grinds available for Agricultural Science, Biology and Chemistry.
Particular interest in crops, soil science, ecology, nutrient cycling and genetics.

Weekly term tutoring experience for four students for higher level subjects.

Completed higher level biology and chemistry at Leaving Cert level, obtained a first class honours BSc degree and currently a PhD candidate in the School of Biological and Environmental Science in affiliation with University College Dublin.

My research is focused on cereal grains, particularly how they respond to Irish growing conditions and different fertiliser supply.

In the near future, I hope to pursue a career in science, with lecturing, due to the lovely possibility of remaining engaged in research combined with teaching responsibilities especially appealing to me. On this platform, my lessons target Leaving Certificate and undergraduate introductory scientific modules. I strive to not only enhance student understanding in the focus subjects, but also to increase student interest.

If this approach appeals to you, feel free to reach out to discuss your subject concerns and availability.

* My availability is limited to weekends *

To guarantee maximum benefit from lessons, key knowledge deficits will be identified. Excess focus will not be placed on areas students are already confident in - something other tutors often fail to acknowledge, to the detriment of valuable student resources; time and money.

My lessons afford students the opportunity to engage with material in an approach different from the conventional classroom. I encourage the admittance of lack of understanding, where it occurs to efficiently address problem subject chapters/topics.
