About Veronica
My name is Veronica and have worked with people all my life. I am very friendly, caring, outgoing and very approachable yet very professional. Therefore, students can rest assured how I treat my students, not as a class but with individual needs and that is how EACH student will be treated; with respect. The course will enable students to acquire a basic ability to communicate with deaf people using basic British Sign Language. Learn how to use appropriate signs and the methodology of communicating with deaf people effectively in different environments. I am a qualified teacher and have been using sign language since 1995 when I first passed my Level 1 then went straight to Level 2 successfully. My passion for BSL has given me different opportunities such as Family support worker for deaf residents and supporting students in FE for over 10 years. This course can help children and adults to learn this beautiful language, knowing how to use lip pattern, finger spelling and how to use certain parts of the upper body to give meaning to the conversation in hand. In all of my courses, it’s imperative to learn Deaf culture, aids and equipment, deaf community and where to source information for further - for Level 1 course only.
