About Silvia
I am a native Brazilian Portuguese speaker with a bachelor's degree in Communication - Marketing, and Advertising from Escola Superior de Propaganda e Marketing de São Paulo. I have always been interested in multicultural relationships. In the early 2000s, I went to London for my studies, where I achieved a proficiency level in English at Angloschool. I also have excellent communication skills in Spanish due to my paternal Hispanic heritage.
I successfully owned and managed a small company in the language field in São Paulo, providing business language services for companies and winning high-profile clients such as Pão de Açúcar, Editora Abril, McCann-Ericsson, and AES, among others.
Later, I took a voluntary break and went to a Buddhist temple in a small town in South Brazil. After leaving the temple, I worked as a marketing consultant in Porto Alegre. I then returned to that small town and began providing English and Portuguese teaching services in 2008. In 2017, I started working remotely and have been providing translation services since 2018.

I use a holistic approach to teaching, so grammar rules and structures come up naturally in our interactions, rather than as isolated grammar topics. For example, if you are struggling with verb tenses, I will address them with real-life examples and follow up with practice exercises to reinforce what you have learned. I will also encourage you to reflect on your learning journey, highlighting what you have mastered and what needs more focus. Being aware of your progress is super important for keeping you motivated!!
As a native speaker, I will introduce you to Brazilian culture, including regional dialects, slang, and everyday life.
We will start by assessing your current knowledge of Portuguese. Together, we will set specific, achievable goals based on your needs and interests. Whether you are preparing for a test or just want to get better overall, I will adapt my teaching to your learning style using interactive methods like videos, role-playing conversations, discussions, and texts.
I work with students from middle school through college, including those preparing for standardized tests, college entrance exams, and professional requirements.
