About Madisen
I have been teaching sign language in the form of university courses, volunteer lectures and personal tutoring for 6 years. The university courses were attended by 75 students, volunteer lectures attended by nearly 200 and personal tutoring to 25. I have had students change their major to study deaf culture and sign language, and even go on to study special education. Most importantly, those I have taught have found themselves immersed in an entirely new culture.

I grew up with two deaf parents and a passion for sign language and deaf studies. I received my BA at the University of California, Riverside in Linguistics with an emphasis on neurolinguistics. I taught beginner courses at my university for a year and volunteered to teach at my high school for several years. I can teach one-on-one or to a group. Not only will direct word to sign translations be taught but also larger concepts and issues involving deaf culture and the community.
