I have been an English Literature tutor for over three years now, working both independently as well as with boutique educational agencies. An IB alumnus who has also completed his IGCSEs, I most often work with students studying abroad at IB schools who feel that they are not getting the grades they deserve and are keen to improve their exam performance. My course is designed to help you overcome your particular challenges, whether in written exam answers or oral assessments. Are you having difficulties analysing texts, poems and prose and are worried that without a 6 or a 7 in your IB English Literature you won't get into the university of your dreams? Or would you like to get a headstart in your Pearson Edexcel exams preparation to ace your (I)GCSEs? Then this is the course for you! From helping you master the general techniques of literary analysis and teaching you how to compare literary works to answer exam questions on character development, theme and techniques, my course will provide you with all the tools and knowledge you need to dazzle even the most demanding IB examiner. The combination of my passion for writing prose and poetry and my deep understanding of IB marking criteria thanks to great teachers and thoughtful research means that I am uniquely placed to not only explain what your answers were lacking, but also show you how thinking like a writer can help you dramatically improve your answers. Following a thorough discussion of your individual needs in our first class, I will create for you an engaging but exam-focused programme drawing on my 3-year experience as a tutor and using interactive teaching platforms. Through my course, you will get access to a vast library of resources (at no extra cost) - from official IB textbooks and past papers to teacher guidance - to help you perfect both your analytical and essay-writing skills. And if English is your second language, I will show you what to focus on in your learning so that you could write better than Shakespeare! Are you ready to turn the page on disappointing grades in the past? Then contact me today!

A truly professional and knowledgeable teacher. I have been trying to improve my English for my career, and Ilia has helped a lot. He helped me prepare for my B2 IELTS exam - I passed it on my first attempt with flying colours! - and is now working with me to prepare me for my C1 CAE exam. I think what I like the most is that Ilia personalises the lessons according to my weaknesses, which has helped me improve quickly.
I really recommend Ilia. Thanks to Ilia, I am now much more confident in my English speaking abilities. I have been taking English lessons with Ilia for 6 months, and I am extremely satisfied with my progress. His method is effective and engaging, tailored to my learning style, which has helped me speak much more fluently.
