About Anna Lois

Hi, I'm Anna! I'm currently studying Graduate Entry Medicine, having completed a Biomedicine degree at Lancaster University beforehand. Science and Maths have always been my passion, and I love the challenge of breaking down complex topics into something clear and manageable. This is a skill I've had to sharpen constantly throughout my own academic journey, from GCSEs and A-Levels right through to medical school.

I'm from Wales and grew up learning through the medium of Welsh, so I'm equally comfortable teaching in Welsh or English, whichever suits the student best. Having sat GCSEs myself under the WJEC board, I understand exactly what examiners are looking for and where students often lose marks.

I want to teach because I know how good exam technique can make a great difference to a student's confidence and results at GCSE level, and I'd love to help others get there. My goal is to make lessons feel supportive and pressure-free, while still being focused and results-driven.

About the lesson

I'm a current Graduate Entry Medicine student with a Biomedicine degree from Lancaster University, and I specialise in GCSE Maths and Biology, with particular expertise in the WJEC exam board. I know the specification, question styles and mark schemes inside out, having sat WJEC myself. I can teach lessons in both Welsh and English, depending on what works best for the student.

My approach is student-led: I start by identifying gaps in understanding rather than just working through content, then build sessions around exam-style questions and past papers so students get comfortable with how WJEC actually examines topics, not just the theory. I break down tricky concepts using simple analogies and real-world examples, drawing on my own science background to make things click.

Lessons typically run 30-45 minutes and are tailored to the individual, whether that's steady confidence-building throughout the year or focused, intensive revision in the run-up to exams. I work with GCSE students of all abilities, from those needing to solidify fundamentals to those aiming for the top grades.
