About Laura

I am a warm and open 25-year-old who knows what it feels like to work hard at school and not always see that effort reflected in your grades. Especially as someone with ADHD, I understand how frustrating it can be when the way something is taught simply does not match the way your brain works.

Despite those challenges, I went on to graduate with a Master of Science with honors, without sacrificing my mental health along the way — well, most of the time ;).

That experience is a big part of why I enjoy tutoring. I believe struggling with a subject does not mean you are bad at it. Sometimes you simply need someone to explain it differently, break it into manageable steps, and help you find an approach that works for you. I aim to create a relaxed and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and building confidence.

About the lesson

I tailor each lesson to the student’s level, goals and way of learning. I like to first identify exactly where someone is getting stuck, explain the underlying concept clearly, and then work through practice questions together until the student feels confident solving them independently.

With STEM subjects, nine times out of ten it comes down to building a clear step-by-step approach and learning how to apply it consistently: the system stays the same, only the numbers change. My goal is to help students recognize those patterns so problems start to feel more manageable rather than overwhelming.

I previously worked as an exam trainer and tutor at Lyceo in the Netherlands, where I taught high school students and helped them prepare for exams. My lessons are suitable for high school students who need help with math or physics, whether that is catching up on difficult topics, improving grades, or preparing for tests and final exams.

Before regular lessons start, I like to have a short introductory session to meet the student, talk through what they are struggling with, and see whether we are a good fit. This also gives me a clear idea of what to prepare so the lessons can be targeted from the start.

Lessons can typically be 60 to 90 minutes, depending on what works best for the student. I aim to keep lessons relaxed and approachable, while still making sure we use the time efficiently and make clear progress.
