About Zixi

My name is Zixi, and I am a final-year Biomedical Sciences student at King’s College London with strong academic performance and extensive laboratory research experience. I am also a co-author on a peer-reviewed Journal of Cell Biology publication, reflecting my ability to engage with complex scientific topics at an advanced level. I pride myself on being a professional, reliable and patient tutor who is committed to helping students develop both genuine subject understanding and academic confidence. I explain scientific concepts clearly, structure lessons carefully around individual learning needs, and use proven exam-focused techniques to help students improve performance and achieve tangible results. My experience working in both research laboratories and clinical volunteering environments has strengthened my communication skills and taught me how to support learners with diverse abilities and confidence levels. I aim to create a positive and encouraging learning atmosphere in every session, where students feel comfortable asking questions and building the skills needed for long-term success.

About the lesson

My teaching approach is centred on building real understanding first, then applying exam technique. I break down complex biological concepts into simple, logical frameworks using diagrams, examples, and step-by-step explanations. Each lesson is structured around three key stages: 1, reviewing core theory, 2, guided practice using exam-style questions, and 3, targeted feedback to address individual weaknesses. I actively adapt lessons to each student’s learning style, whether they benefit more from visual diagrams, discussion-based explanation, or practice-led learning. I also focus heavily on exam skills, including command-word analysis, mark-scheme interpretation, and structured answers — techniques essential for achieving top grades. A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes, although 90-minute sessions are available for exam preparation or extended topic coverage. Lessons can be delivered online or in person in London, using interactive resources and clear digital notes to support continued revision outside lesson time. Through my university research training and laboratory experience, I have developed excellent communication and mentoring skills, particularly in explaining scientific concepts clearly and patiently. I work with students aged 13–18 studying GCSE, A-Level or IB Biology, as well as those preparing for science-based university pathways. My aim is always to build both subject confidence and academic independence, enabling students to succeed long-term rather than relying solely on memorisation.
