About Alexandrea
Hi! I'm a Biomedical Sciences student at Marquette University with a strong passion for science, learning, and helping others succeed academically. Through my coursework and lab experience, I’ve developed a solid foundation in subjects like biology, chemistry, anatomy, and physiology—and I enjoy breaking these complex topics down into clear, understandable concepts. As a tutor, I aim to create a supportive, engaging learning environment where students feel confident asking questions, making mistakes, and building real understanding. I know what it’s like to feel overwhelmed by fast-paced lectures or difficult material, so I focus on explaining things in ways that actually make sense—whether that means using diagrams, real-life examples, or step-by-step practice problems. Whether you're a middle school, high school or a fellow undergraduate looking to strengthen your grasp of pre-med courses, I’m here to help you feel more confident and in control of your learning.

My teaching approach is student-centered, adaptive, and focused on building long-term understanding rather than short-term memorization. I start by assessing the student's current level, learning style, and goals. I break down complex concepts into manageable parts, using analogies, visual aids, and real-world examples to clarify abstract ideas.
I emphasize active learning by asking open-ended questions, encouraging discussion, and integrating problem-solving exercises throughout the lesson. I also use spaced repetition and regular formative assessments to reinforce retention and track progress.
A standard lesson usually includes the following stages:
Warm-up (5–10 mins): Review of the previous lesson or a quick diagnostic quiz.
Concept Introduction (10–15 mins): Explanation of new material with clear objectives.
Guided Practice (15–20 mins): Step-by-step exercises we work on together, with scaffolding.
Independent Practice (10–15 mins): The student applies the concept on their own with my guidance as needed.
Review and Feedback (5–10 mins): Summary of key takeaways, discussion of mistakes, and assigning tailored practice or homework.
What makes me different is my ability to personalize lessons in real time and make the material relevant to each student's context. I’m patient, intuitive, and highly attuned to the subtle cues that reveal whether a student truly understands a concept or is just nodding along. I also focus on mindset—helping students build confidence, overcome anxiety, and develop independent learning skills they can apply beyond our sessions.
My lessons are designed for middle school and high school students.
