About Emma
As a senior Biomedical Engineering student, I bring both strong academic knowledge and real-world problem-solving experience to my tutoring. My background in math, science, and technology allows me to explain complex ideas in clear, engaging ways that make sense to students. I’ve also taught children’s swim lessons, which has strengthened my ability to connect with learners, build trust, and encourage confidence even when a topic feels challenging. I approach every lesson with patience, organization, and enthusiasm. Students can expect a positive, structured learning environment where questions are always welcome, mistakes are seen as part of growth, and progress is celebrated. My goal is to help each student feel capable, confident, and excited to learn.

My approach as a tutor is based on clarity, connection, and confidence-building. I start by identifying how each student learns best. This could be through visuals, step-by-step examples, or hands-on problem-solving. Then I tailor lessons to match their learning style. I use guided questioning to help students think critically and arrive at answers independently, which deepens understanding and builds confidence. A typical lesson begins with a quick check-in or review of prior material, followed by a focused explanation of a new concept using real-world or cross-subject examples. Then, we work through practice problems together before ending with a short reflection or summary to reinforce key ideas. What sets me apart is my ability to connect technical subjects like math, science, and coding to everyday experiences. A skill that has shaped my background outside of my education has been teaching children’s swim lessons, where patience and encouragement are key. My lessons are designed for middle and high school students who want to strengthen their foundation in math, science, or introductory coding, especially those who benefit from a supportive, flexible, and engaging learning environment.
