About Charlotte

Hi,

My name is Charli. I graduated from the University of St Andrews in 2011 with a BSc(Hons) Marine Biology. As part of my degree I studied modules in animal biology, developmental biology, cell biology, behaviour biology, evolutionary biology, ecology, biotechnology and oceanography as well as marine biology so I have a broad background in the subject. I have studied Geography modules at university and at A level and also feel confident tutoring this subject to GCSE level. I was selected for an exchange program in Australia at James Cook University so I have experienced lots of different styles of teaching, which influence how I prepare my lessons.

I am very enthusiastic and excited about my chosen subject and I was lucky to be able to continue working in my chosen field after graduation.

After I graduated, I worked as an Aquarist at Loch Lomond Sea Life Centre and Deep Sea World where I it was my responsibility to care for the animals, teach the public how to dive and deliver classes for local children on school trips to the aquarium.

I have also worked as a senior laboratory technician at Edinburgh University in their zebrafish research labs, where my responsibilities included running a laboratory for groups studying a wide variety of biological subjects.

For the past year I have been employed as a childminder and I have assisted my mindees with their homework which has inspired me to use the knowledge I gained in my degree and subsequent work experience and become a tutor.

As of 2018, I sadly do not have any private tutoring experience outwith teaching classes at Deep Sea World, but I am a qualified trampoline and gymnastics coach and have been coaching both sports for years. This experience allows me to understand different learning styles and how to ensure that my lessons are tailored for the student I am teaching.

About the lesson

I tailor my lessons to suit individual students. After an initial meeting to discuss your goals and your learning styles, I will create a term and lesson plan designed to evolve your strengthsband develop your weaknesses in the subject. Al my lesson plans are adaptive and I take on board all feedback to ensure that you achieve your potential!
