About Jia
While I approach tutoring as a collaborative learning experience, I take professionalism seriously by being prepared, organized, and respectful of each student’s time and goals. I am a Biology graduate from the University of Texas at Austin with a strong academic foundation in STEM, and I aim to apply that knowledge in a clear and effective way. I offer lessons focused on collaborative learning, where we work through material together in a supportive and low-pressure environment. My teaching method emphasizes breaking down concepts step by step, using examples, active questioning, and repetition only when needed to build real understanding rather than memorization. A typical lesson starts with reviewing key concepts, identifying areas of confusion, working through guided practice problems or explanations, and ending with a recap and questions to reinforce learning. What sets me apart is that I learn alongside my students, creating a patient and honest space where it’s okay not to know everything right away. These lessons are best suited for high school and early college students, especially in biology and related STEM subjects, who want to strengthen their understanding and build confidence in the material.
