About Rosina
I have a PhD in Bioinformatics and two years post-doctoral experience. I also have a year of experience teaching postgraduate-level lecture courses and practicals. At the moment, I am working as a postdoctoral researcher in the life sciences. A major part of my work is supervising students at various levels and providing statistical consultation to various projects. Over the past few years, I have become increasingly obsessed with the challenges involved in the teaching of introductory probability and statistics. Hence, I am in the middle of a career shift away from full-time research to be able to focus more on teaching. I am hoping that Superprof will allow me to share my passion for statistics with others!

Statistics is creative and fun - more an art than a science. It is also an absolutely essential skill in any scientific field. However, it can often feel like a daunting subject.
I love statistics and I love helping others explore this exciting field. My teaching is based around three guiding principles:
1) understanding the fundamental concepts of statistics is much more important than knowing a lot of tests (tests can always be googled!)
2) you don't need to learn a lot of equations and maths to understand statistics
3) you will learn best if you get to discover principles yourself (with my help) rather than simply being lectured at
My classes are exclusively online, with the use of a virtual whiteboard. Ideally (though this is up to the student), the classes include hands-on activities in R or another statistical package. I primarily work with students and researchers from the undergraduate level up. My background is in the life sciences but I am happy to also receive students from other disciplines.
