About Emily
I am a recent graduate from the University of Washington in Bioengineering. I love teaching STEM, and I have taught middle school competition math, college level signal processing, and college immunoengineering. I enjoy working with students of varying levels (middle school to college!) and would love to get to know you and help you in your STEM courses. Outside of that, I am working towards nursing school.

I am a University of Washington Bioengineering graduate with a Chemistry minor and a strong academic background in chemistry, biology, mathematics, and engineering. My coursework and research experience have given me extensive experience applying chemistry concepts to real scientific and engineering problems, and I enjoy helping students develop the same kind of problem-solving confidence!
My tutoring approach is centered on active problem-solving rather than passive explanation. I believe that working through problems is one of the fastest ways to determine whether a student is struggling with the underlying concept, the mathematics, interpreting the question, or knowing how to begin. From there, I tailor the explanation and practice to the student's specific needs.
Students can bring homework, lecture material, practice exams, or particular topics they would like to review. I can also create structured lessons and practice problems based on their course content and appropriate educational resources. A typical session includes a brief conceptual review, guided examples, and increasingly independent practice so that students learn not only how to solve a particular problem, but how to approach similar problems in the future.
I am available to tutor high school chemistry and math and college-level general/physical/organic/lab chemistry, including students preparing for exams, working through difficult units, or looking for ongoing support throughout a course. My goal is to make chemistry feel more approachable while helping students build strong, transferable problem-solving skills!
