About Maria-Elisavet

I have been passionate about teaching ever since I was young, having always enjoyed learning. My teachers and tutors had a huge role to play in that, and it has shaped who I am to this day.

I believe that a friendly, stress-free learning environment is essential for someone to thrive, and it can really make the difference for a lot of students. I hope I can be the type of tutor students are comfortable enough to share their concerns and struggles with, and someone who they can trust to give them the help they need.

I am committed to providing quality lessons, as well as establishing a relationship based on mutual trust and respect with my future students! :)

About the lesson

Having volunteered as a Student Mentor in university and as an English and Maths teacher for the Red Cross in Johannesburg, South Africa, I am confident in approaching students and personalising lessons for their specific needs. I plan on keeping lessons between 1 and 1.5 hours (max). I would be most comfortable tutoring GSCE or KS3, but I am more than happy to take on A-level students as well. While I am specialised in Biology and Chemistry, I could also potentially assist with English or History-related courses on a lower level. I can additionally offer Greek lessons to speakers (intermediate, advanced level) and any non-speakers who are interested in learning at a beginner's level!

Through my lessons, I aim to address areas of weakness and strengthen understanding of concepts, all of which depend on the transparency of the student. For example, a first lesson would involve going over an overview of topics and identifying key areas for improvement. Moving forwards, I will tailor my teaching to the needs of the students, and adjust as they evolve over time.

I can deliver content, help with homework or any other coursework within my area of expertise. I am very happy to discuss with students prior to the first free lesson, to come up with a plan beforehand! :)

Details

Base rate is £12 per hour for online lessons, but may vary if lessons are in person according to additional requirements/travel arrangements. However, very negotiable and flexible!
