About Maritza

I’m a passionate, bilingual educator with more than 42 years of experience teaching Spanish and English to students of all ages. I graduated in Colombia and have spent the last six years teaching in the United States, where I continue to share my love for languages and cultures. My students describe me as energetic, creative, and encouraging. I believe that every learner can succeed when lessons are clear, engaging, and connected to their real lives. Whether in person or online, I create a positive space where mistakes are seen as opportunities to grow. My goal is to help you gain confidence and communicate naturally, not just memorize rules. I’ll guide you every step of the way — with enthusiasm, humor, and dedication.

About the lesson

With over 42 years of experience teaching Spanish and English, I’ve learned that learning happens best when it feels natural, joyful, and meaningful. My approach is “making the difficult easy” — through creative, engaging, and interactive lessons that connect language to real-life situations.

A typical lesson starts with a short conversation or warm-up in Spanish, followed by guided practice using visuals, songs, short readings, or fun mini-projects. I adapt each session to your level — from beginners discovering the basics to advanced learners polishing their fluency and confidence.

What sets me apart is my ability to combine language and culture. Students don’t just learn Spanish grammar — they discover Hispanic music, traditions, and expressions that make the language come alive. I teach in person and online, offering a free first online class to assess your level and goals.

This first lesson offered with Maritza will allow you to get to know each other and clearly specify your needs for your next lessons.

Details

I offer online classes for $35/hour and in-person classes for $40/hour. The first class is free and online, so we can meet, talk about your goals, and plan your learning path together. I also offer discounted packages — 5 classes for $160 ($32 each) or 10 classes for $300 ($30 each). Packages can include a mix of online and in-person lessons, depending on your schedule or even the weather!

I also offer group packages (5+ people) — prices range from $15–$20 per person, depending on class format and needs.
